12:30 Thursday afternoon the Hope Valley Hazmat Team was dispatched to South County Hospital for an unknown Hazmat. Members from several area departments converged on the scene at 100 Kenyon Ave. Car 903 (Deputy Chief Champlin) was the first officer to arrive and established hazmat command working in conjunction with crews from the Union Fire District. Crews metered the spill and were able to mitigate the hazard safely. The hospital was back to normal operations by 3:00 PM.

Our Hazmat team is the only volunteer team in the state. These members spend countless hours training and becoming certified. They leave their jobs, family and friends to respond to these calls. Do you have an interest in joining our team? If so feel free to contact us at 401-539-2229 or stop in Monday-Friday 7:30 AM - 3:00 PM and Tuesdays 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM.
