| This Sunday will mark the ten year anniversary of the September 11th terrorist attacks. On that fateful day more than 3,000 Americans lost their lives, including more than 400 first responders. The events that took place on that day have forever changed America and the world as we know it.
At 8:45am that morning, the first plane crashed into the first World Trade Tower. At first it was thought to be a freak accident, until everyone watched helplessly as a second plane crashed into the second Word Trade Tower, roughly 15 minutes later. A half an hour later, a plane crashes into the Pentagon and another half hour goes by before the last plane crashes in Pennsylvania.
A war began in Iraq and Afghanistan as a response to the terrorist attacks. Since the beginning of these wars, an additional 5,000+ Americans have fallen in the line of duty. September 11th will forever be a day to remember the thousands of US citizens that have lost their lives on that day and in the wars that followed. As firefighters we will surely never forget the 343 firefighters that lost their lives that day.
This September 11th, one of our fellow firefighters, Graham Devine, will be in Afghanistan serving our country in the Air Force. This is Graham's first trip over seas and we can't be more proud of him. We wish Graham a safe journey and that he returns home soon. We love you, Graham!
