Hope Valley Hazmat actived to Union Fire District

By Hope Valley - Wyoming Fire District
February 9, 2023

Yesterday Hope Valley Hazmat was requested by Union Fire District to Kingstown road for 2 large propane cylinders leaking Hazmat arrived on the scene and determined the safest method to correct the situation was to flare off some of the excess propane.
Propane tanks filled during very cold weather will tend to expand once warmed up causing them to activate the relief valve to remove the excess pressure caused. Our team has the ability to flare off propane bringing the liquid level back to the safe level causing the relief valve to reset and ceasing the hazard.
Thank you to our team of volunteers for once again stepping up to the challenge when needed.

Units: Hazards 900 and Hazmat 918
