(Plan Review Fees/Inspection Fees)

 

The Board of Directors of the Hope Valley Wyoming Fire District determines and declares that following the Rhode Island General Laws section 23-28.2-26. The Rhode Island Fire Code sections 1.14.3.1, 1.14.3.2, 1.14.3.3, and 1.14.3.3.1 that as of March 13, 2008, the Hope Valley Wyoming Fire District has adopted the following fee structure for plan reviews. Note the plan review fee schedule shall change to conform to any subsequent revision in state law

Every request for plan review by the state fire marshal's office under the Fire Safety Code provision shall be accompanied by the fee prescribed in this section. Plan review fees shall be as follows:

All New buildings, additions, alterations, structures, etc.

Commercial Construction:

$500 or Less

$25.00

 

Over $500 but not over $1,000

$35.00

 

Over $1,000 but not over $2,000

$45.00

 

Over $2,000 but not over $500,000

$45.00+

Plus $6.00 per $1,000 or fraction thereof over $2,000

Over $500,000

$3,033+

Plus $4.00 per $1,000 or fraction thereof over $500,000

 

Residential Construction:

Single Family House

$75.00

 

Two (2) Family House

$125.00

 

Three (3) Family House

$175.00

 

 

All requests for residential smoke/carbon monoxide system inspections will follow the  Rhode Island Life Safety Code Section 24.6.3.1.3.1 – The local fire authority that performs smoke and carbon monoxide alarm inspections in all residential occupancies shall, at the time of inspection, be allowed to charge a thirty dollar ($30.00) fee for the inspection of any residential occupancy. The responsibility of this charged fee will be borne by the seller on each occurrence before the title to the property is transferred. A sixty-dollar ($60.00) fee will be allowed for any subsequent re-inspection of the same residential occupancy due to improper installation, wrong location, improper wiring method, or the seller's failure to maintain a mutually agreed upon appointment with the local fire authority that performs the inspection function. The fees collected by the local fire authority shall be used for fire prevention purposes in that city, town, fire district, or other municipal subdivision

The fee prescribed in this section shall accompany every request for plan review. By the Hope Valley Wyoming Fire Marshal's office, under the Rhode Island Fire Code provisions. Checks shall be made payable to Hope Valley Wyoming Fire District.

Review and approval by AHJ shall not relieve the applicant of the responsibility of compliance with this code.

Permit applications can be picked up in person at the fire department headquarters located at 996 Main Street, Hope Valley RI 02832, by requesting an application via email at Firemarshal@hvwfd.org, or by printing the application from this site (under the document section of the Fire Marshal). Please fill out the application to the best of your ability. All applications shall be accompanied by one (1) copy of the construction drawing of the site plan along with floor plans. drawn to scale with sufficient clarity and detailed dimensions to show the nature and character of the proposed work for residential plans. Commercial plans must include all the residential requirements along with Electrical and Fire Alarm Plans when applicable. All plans and approvals will be done through the permit portals of both The Town of Richmond and The Town of Hopkinton building permit sites. Once the fees have been paid and the review is completed the fire review step will be completed, and you will move on to the next step in the permit process on the respective townsite. This office will retain the one copy for our office records. You shall contact the fire marshal's office at 401-539-2229 for a rough and final inspection. Upon completing the final inspection, a certificate of approval for use and occupancy will be issued to submit to the town's building official.

Schedule of Special Category Fee Rates

The following fee schedule shall be in addition to the fees computed as the basis of the Schedule of Fee Rates set forth in the plan review fees.

  1. There shall be a fee of fifty dollars ($50) per living unit for all hotels, apartments, houses, rooming houses, boarding houses, houses for the elderly, hospitals, health care facilities, group homes, and for any other multifamily residential occupancy for four (4) or more living units.
  2. There shall be a fee of one hundred ($100) dollars for a fire safety inspection for any new license or license transfers.
  3. There shall be a fee of fifty ($50) dollars for any fire safety inspections for the renewal of any license.
