Fire district honors volunteers for service

HOPE VALLEY — David Richardson has been named the Arthur Stanley Firefighter of the Year for the Hope Valley-Wyoming Fire District.

The district handed out its annual awards on Sat­urday at the Meadowbrook Inn in Charlestown.

It recognized Justin Lee as the Robert Stanley Vol­unteer of the Year, and Jason Caswell with the Stanley Napper Dedicated Service Award. Christo­pher Straight received the Joseph Brusseau Rookie of the Year award.

Newman's Egg Farm, of Richmond, was honored with the Community Ser­vice Award. Daniel Hyland, a photographer for The Westerly Sun, also received the award for his photogra­phy of fire and emergency incidents.

Members of the district's Board of Directors — David Holt, Pat DeBernardo, Ronald Richmond, Georgie Ure and Elwood Johnson — received honors for the Dedicated to the Communi­ty Award. Pat Webber and Mary Beth Flood were given the Special Service Award.

The district recognized David Dumsar and Chris Gould with the Hazmat Team Dedicated Service Award.

And George Swallow, Andy Briody and Mike Gouvin received the Dedi­cated Service Award.

Sal Ciccone, Mike Napolitano, Robert Pelchat Jr., Brian Flood and Sum­mer Smith were awarded Dedicated Junior Firefight­er plaques.
