On Sunday evening, our firefighters with automatic mutual aid from Carolina, Exeter #2, and Ashaway fire departments along with EMS from Hope Valley Ambulance were dispatched to Summit road for a “working” structure fire. The first fire officer arrived within a few minutes and reported a shed/outbuilding in the rear of the dwelling with heavy fire on the front section. Crews arrived and stretched one hose line to the front of the outbuilding and were able to get inside to put the fire under control within a few minutes of arrival. Firefighters were on scene for approximately 2-1/2-3 hours with an extensive overhaul for hot spots and to assist the Fire Marshal with lighting. Thanks to well-trained firefighters and timely response, fire damage was limited to the front section of the outbuilding with no extension to the home 10-15’ away. As always, we are proud of our volunteers for always stepping up when needed.
