At 7:30 Tuesday night the Hope Valley-Wyoming Fire District was dispatched in the Richmond-Carolina's District for a reported dryer or washer fire. Engine 912 was the first due engine and had a light smoke condition upon arrival. Engine 912's crew along with Tanker 916's crew determined there was no active fire, and the source of smoke and odor was a malfunctioning washing machine. The appliance was removed from the structure.
