Everyone thinks of firefighters when their cat is stuck in a tree, but today (Mothers Day) Hope Valley Fire was summoned to Corey Trail to assist RI DEM in retrieving an Osprey from a tree. The osprey was entangled in fishing line and the line was wrapped up on the tree branch approximately 30’ up in a tree.
After putting up a 35’ Ladder, firefighters were able to break the branch and get the bird successfully down. The osprey was taken by DEM to be checked out for injuries and potentially a rehab center to recover.
Excellent work by our volunteers to go above and beyond again when faced with a challenge.
