WEST GREENWICH — Volunteers from several area fire departments, including Hope Valley and Carolina, were asked to assemble early Saturday to aid in the search for a missing person in West Greenwich. The Rhode Island State Police announced late Friday that Michael Neary, 50, of 31 Brassie Court, Coventry, was reported missing by his wife at about 10:15 a.m. Thursday. Soon afterward, officers from the Coventry and West Greenwich police departments found Neary’s car parked, unattended, at the end of Burnt Sawmill Road. Officers from those departments, along with state police troopers and K-9 units searched the woods, assisted by Rhode Island Environmental Police, who used ATVs to canvass the area.

Others assisting in the search were the Warwick police; Exeter Fire and Rescue; the Rhode Island Canine Search and Rescue; Ocean State Search and Rescue; Correctional Officers Search and Rescue; the Rhode Island Emergency Management Agency, and the Disaster Medical Assistance Team.
