As we continue to watch tracks for Hurricane Joanquin it is import to be prepared for whatever this brings us. As we saw with Hurricane Sandy in 2012 it does not take a direct hit to feel the effects of these powerful storms. Officers and firefighters will be working this week and weekend to ensure all emergency equipment is ready and in service to ensure we are prepared to assist you in any emergencies! We would also like to provide you with some information to be prepared at your own homes.

1. Know where to go in the event of an evacuation it is also important to keep a battery powered radio to keep up to date on shelter locations. For most people in town this would be the Chariho High School. It is still to early to know if any evacuations will be ordered but the shelter is also used at times of extended power outages to provide residence with power and running water.
- here is a link for information on Rhode Island shelters. https://www.ri.gov/hurricane/shelters.php

2. Put together a supply kit, including flashlights, batteries, cash, first aid supplies, snacks and copies of critical information if you need to evacuate.

3. Have adequate supplies of food, water and batteries enough for several days in the event that you are unable to leave your house due to blocked roads.
- For those of you with generators check to make sure they are full and in proper working condition.

4. Take time to sign up for Richmond or Hopkintons emergency call systems. You can find that information below.
Richmond http://cne.coderedweb.com/Default.aspx?groupid=8p62EFyFSUbNe1seqxQRVQ%3d%3d
Hopkinton https://cne.coderedweb.com/Default.aspx?groupid=9bIv1My7h13ncwC9vw9phA%3d%3d

In the event you have an emergency please call 911 immediately! The faster you report an emergency the faster we will be able to respond and assist you. We will be working to keep as many crews as possible staffed through the storm.
