At 3:30 AM Thursday The Hope Valley-Wyoming Fire District was dispatched to Interstate 95 South between exits 2 and 1 for a possible motor vehicle accident. As units were checking between exits 2 and 1, a second 911 call was received by Westerly Dispatch putting the accident between exits 3 and 2 and now involved a third motor vehicle. Shortly after the updated information was transmitted Engine 912 and Car 907 arrived on scene reporting 3 cars involved with one vehicle in the woods, the second in the breakdown lane and a third in the high speed lane. Special Hazards 900 and Car 902 arrived on scene shortly after and assisted Engine 912 in mitigating hazards, assisting ems and traffic control.
